Long time no blog.
Busy with work and life and riding has been pretty mellow...
Interesting things happening lately though. I am talking about the attack on team SKY and how Cervelo apparently broke a racing rule. You know what, who cares... The SKY guys rode everyone in the gutter and I think it was great that everyone else dished it out to them. In the end SKY ended up winning, but the lesson was learned. Kinda makes me wonder if we could roll something like that in a local race.
Well racing has just started and its already looking gray to me....
I can no longer hold this in.
I have a stack of Bicycling magazines in my "Office" and having them neatly organized made me realize one thing: The last 6 months or so there has been some queer on the cover. Its some stupid shot of some idiot that does not reflect the real world cycling community.
What has also struck me is the barrage of useless articles: "Legs of Steel", "Iron legs", "Loose 50lbs in 6 months", Stronger, faster and Leaner", "Eat this, loose 5lbs", blah, blah, blah... I mean, c'mon, its a legitimate magazine and I think that I actually...
Cloudy day but very fast pace, at least on paper.
I am getting to the point where I can't really tell if the pace is too fast or just OK. My computer read 28.11mph and that is very quick over 26 miles.
Reason it has been OK is that I haven't really tried to do anything. I guess sitting in has been very easy. Tried to sprint yesterday for the finish but there were a ton of people in the mix plus some cars that showed up right before the last corner.
On a last note, I will see how my training will...
This past week I spent training for the Ventura SR.
I am not exactly sure, but I think I got about 20-21 hours in, ~350-370 miles and I capped it all off with a pretty hard ride on Sunday. This was the first time I rode out to the start of the cyclo-vets ride and did GLW with some extra climbing in there.
It was a 17 mile trek in some skethy neighborhoods in SD. We met up with some gils and rode out to Dehesa. I followed my teammate on the climb and we stayed together. He is 40lbs lighter but...
Great racing weekend as everything is local to me.
The fields at Barrio were tiny. BUT they still honored the payout, which is a big thing now a days. And thanks for SDBC for doing that... although I did not see a dime of that money I can see how it would have been justified to cut the prize list in half.
The race starts and it starts pretty quick. Actually before anything started I flatted on the parade lap. Ok, now the race starts.... 2 laps into it i hit a bump and my seat collapses forward... sucks cause now I...
