Team Type 1 Invited to the Amgen Tour of California

Atlanta — Team Type 1 has officially been handed the chance at claiming California glory, being named as one of the sixteen teams invited to the 2010 Amgen Tour of California today.

Team Type 1 has been hard at work early in the season to prove itself worth of invitations to the nation’s largest and most important races. A key goal for the team was the Amgen Tour of California, which moved from its traditional February calendar slot to a more pleasant May date for the 2010 season.

“Being invited to one of the most prestigious cycling events in the world is a true honor,” said Team Type 1 CEO, Phil Southerland. “It will be a wonderful opportunity to share the mission of Team Type 1 with the spectators.”

After proving itself as one of the fastest and most skilled teams in America in 2010, Team Type 1 will now square off against the likes of HTC-Columbia, Quick Step, Saxo Bank, Garmin-Transitions, Rabobank and Liquigas-Doimo.

Team Type 1 will also look to prove itself as the cream of the crop amongst American Professional Continental squads. Teams such as Bissel Pro Cycling, UnitedHealthcare presented by Maxxis, Jelly Belly presented by Kenda, SpiderTech presented by Planet Energy, Fly V Australia and Kelly Benefit Strategies round out Team Type 1’s competition roster, in what should prove to be the most competitive fields the team has seen to date.  Action is set to kick off on May 16th in Nevada City, California, and will finish eight days later in Agoura Hills.
