USA Cycling names team for Pan American Road & Track Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo. (April 16, 2010) – USA Cycling announced today the team that will represent the United States at the Pan American Road and Track Championships, May 10-18, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Fifteen riders (six men and nine women) will travel to the Continental Championships where significant international ranking points will be on the line.

Copenhagen, Denmark (March 28, 2010)—Taylor Phinney (Boulder, Colo./Trek-Livestrong) helped the USA Cycling team secure its third medal as the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships came to a close on Sunday. Phinney finished third in the men’s omnium to secure a bronze medal to go along with his pursuit gold from earlier in the week. Shelley Evans (Scott Valley, Calif./Peanut Butter & Co Twenty 12) also finished 11th in the women’s points race event on the final day of competition in Copenhagen.

Copenhagen, Denmark (March 27, 2010)—On the penultimate day of competition at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships Sarah Hammer (Temecula, Calif./American Track Foundation) just missed a medal in her first-ever women’s omnium competition. The pursuit world champion finished fifth despite relegation in one of the five races in the event most recently added to the Olympic slate. The Madison pair of Daniel Holloway (Morgan Hill, Calif./Bissell) and Colby Pearce (Boulder, Colo./Big Shark p/b THF Realty) also scored a top ten for the American team on the fourth day of competition in Copenhagen.

Copenhagen, Denmark (March 25, 2010)—After qualifying second earlier today, Taylor Phinney (Boulder, Colo./Trek-Livestrong) became the first American to win back-to-back elite men’s world titles on the track, re-capturing the rainbow jersey in the 4-kilometer individual pursuit Thursday night in Denmark. The U.S. women’s team pursuit squad also qualified for the finals for the first time in history, finishing fourth.

Copenhagen, Denmark (March 24, 2010)—The United States Cycling Team claimed its first world title of the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Championships on Wednesday as Sarah Hammer (Temecula, Calif./American Track Foundation) re-claimed the rainbow jersey in the women’s individual pursuit. Her gold-medal performance marked her fourth visit to the podium at the world championships after winning back-to-back world titles in 2006 and 2007 and earning the silver in 2008.
